Institutional Aid
When investigating theological schools, make sure you fully understand all the financial aid options they offer. Don't rely solely on printed materials or Web sites, as these can be out of date. Be in personal contact with the admissions office to ask about the options the institution offers as well as to guide you to external scholarships of which they are aware. While most schools keep a rolling deadline for the admissions process, the financial aid decisions are usually made early, and the larger awards usually go to those who apply by the first application deadline. Most need-based grants are based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and institutions usually require a supplemental financial aid form for institutional assistance. If you pay close attention to the details (and make the financial aid director your best friend!) you will be ahead of the game in paying for your education.
You may also find other sources of financial support for theological studies through FTE's FundFinder listing.
