FTE coordinates a variety of Lilly Endowment Inc. grant programs for colleges, universities, theological schools and new pastors.
These coordination programs bring together resources from across North America, making them available to grant recipients, including:
- Programs at Seminaries for High School Youth
Exploration that begins at the high school level, when many students are wrestling with vocational issues and beginning to embark on career paths, is an essential strategy for recruiting outstanding candidates for congregational leadership and theological scholarship. This Lilly Endowment Inc. initiative supports that strategy. Ultimately, this is key to strengthening congregational ministry in North America.
- Programs at Colleges & Universities
An initiative of Lilly Endowment Inc., Programs for the Theological Exploration of Vocation (PTEV) is coordinated through FTE. Between 2000 and 2002, the Endowment awarded grants to 88 church-related colleges and universities to assist students in exploring vocational choices and enhance the capacity of schools to effectively teach and mentor them.
- Programs at Theological Schools
This grants program, funded by Lilly Endowment Inc., was designed to strengthen congregational ministry by helping qualified theological schools improve their capacity for preparing the next generation of ordained and lay ministers. FTE coordinated the program from 1999 to 2005, and a Summary Report is available for download.
- New Pastor Support
After seminary, what's next? Making the move from full-time student to full-time pastor can be difficult. The Lilly Endowment's Transition-into-Ministry Program was launched in 1999 to help provide support during this critical stage.
