Programs to Enhance Theological Schools' Capacities to Prepare Congregational Leadership
This Lilly Endowment Inc. initiative, coordinated through FTE, was designed to strengthen congregational ministry by helping qualified theological schools improve their capacity for preparing the next generation of ordained and lay ministers.
In 1998, the Endowment awarded grants to 45 theological schools to fund innovative and promising projects addressing the critical need for highly qualified pastoral leadership in Christian churches. Projects focused on a variety of issues that impact preparation for ministry, including recruitment, financial aid, spiritual formation, contextual education, distance learning and lay ministry.
Grant recipients included accredited theological schools from many traditions.
FTE coordination of the grant program concluded in June 2005.
