You may wish to give a Named Fellowship in your own name or in honor or memory of someone you wish to recognize. This is an excellent way to support a promising student while celebrating the life and work of a pastor, teacher or layperson who sets an example for Christian leadership.
Choose from:
- A Named Undergraduate Fellowship for $3,200 a year provides a stipend for a student to study religion in college or to engage in some meaningful work of ministry while in college that helps him or her explore a calling. This gift will also provide support for the Fellow to work with a mentor in considering the reality of life in ministry. It will also enable the Fellow to attend the FTE annual summer conference to dialog with other students on similar journeys and outstanding ministers and theological educators in considering the ministry as their life's work.
- A Named Ministry Fellowship for $12,000 a year provides a stipend for a student to go to seminary and prepare for pastoral ministry. This gift enables the Ministry Fellow to engage in highly imaginative and meaningful work in ministry during the summer, an experience that greatly enhances his or her preparation for pastoral service. It will also enable the Fellow to attend the FTE annual summer conference for dialog and exploration. The network of support created by this event helps Fellows strengthen their commitment to life in parish ministry.
- A Named Doctoral Fellowship for $7,000 to $18,000 a year provides a stipend for a student from an underrepresented racial/ethnic group to pursue doctoral studies with a goal of teaching in a theological seminary. The support provides living expenses for a student in the first two years of coursework and in the first year of preparing the dissertation. The impact of this support in strengthening the presence of outstanding racial/ethnic scholars in theological education is dramatic.
Endowing Named Fellowships
You may wish to create a permanent endowment in your name or the name of someone you wish to honor to assure that young people will be provided support each year to prepare for ministry or teaching. Donors often make such gifts with appreciated property, such as common stock. Such an endowment will be invested by the FTE and the income only used to assist a student each year in the name of the person being honored by the endowment.
